This 6-week online course will teach you the basics of reading musical notation.

This course is for adult learners who want to learn how to read written music. No music reading experience is necessary, however please note that in this class I will not be teaching you the techniques of playing an instrument; the focus here will be on understanding the written language of music.

Due to the cumulative nature of this material it's recommended that you attend all classes if possible. If classes are missed I can make a video of the session available temporarily so that you can catch up before the next week's session. Partial refunds will not be given for missed classes.

Classes will be limited to 5 people to allow for individual attention. Don't hesitate to register!

Topics we will cover include:

  • Note reading
  • Rhythm reading and concepts
  • Finding notes on the piano (contact for info on other instruments)
  • Time signatures
  • Key signatures
  • Articulations
  • Following a score

In this class the piano will be used in demonstrations and I will cover how to find notes on the piano keyboard (this will also apply to all instruments that use a piano keyboard layout). I can also accommodate guitar, electric bass, and ukulele. For other instruments please contact me to let me know which instrument you plan to use and I'll do my best to accommodate you as well.

Partial refunds will not be given if classes are missed.

If you registered and would like to cancel please contact me at least 24 hours before the start of the first week's session.
